Trash Service & Recycling

The City of Burden contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection. The City of Burden does not offer recycling. Everyone within the city limits is required to have garbage collection.

CITY REFUSE WILL BE PICKED UP EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. Trash carts should be set out by 6 am or the night before to ensure pickup.

Most trash and debris, when properly bundled and/or contained properly, can be disposed of at curbside with your regular garbage service days. DO NOT include construction/rennovation debris in your household trash cart. All garbage should be bagged inside the trash cart. Occasional extra bags of trash outside of a 95-cart are limited to five bags, no heavier than 35 lbs. Please request an additional trash cart if you frequently place extra bags outside of your current container. Extra bags are not included for a 65-cart.

Year round the City Storage Facility has a 40-yd open top roll off dumpster for Burden trash service customers to haul furniture, construction debris, and non-household trash items too. There is also an area for old appliances and scrap metal.  There is a $3 fee per tire to dispose of tires.
